Lift
Do I need a lift kit to put 31" tires on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee? I just read an article stating I don't. Is it true? Or would it be best to go ahead and put one on anyway.

31's will fit but, it will be very tight and they will rub the fender flairs bad even normal street driving. Even with a 3.5" lift I still rub 31's bad under full flex.

They MIGHT not rub if you do some serious trimming on the fenders but i have heard of 30's rubbing even during street use......

so, if they rub, that means they don't fit.
you'll have to trim the fenders or get a lift. 3.5 inch will suffice.
but if yer gonna disconnect to flex over the big stuff, go bigger. you will eventually...

They will fit with trimming bro. Your best bet is to get them on and them trim around them. They will fit though with trimming. Maybe a little rub on the bumps but not bad at all.

Thanks guys,
I think the lift is definately the way to go. I have had this Jeep for 7 years..no way could I start cutting on it!
I had just seen a pic from one of the off road magazines claiming that the Jeep pictured had 31" tires and fit without a lift or being trimmed.
The lift it is!

I have seen plenty of Cherokees "trimmed" and it looks terrible. More than likely whoever did it had no clue what the heck they were doing! However I'm sure done properly its a great thing.
This gal just can't bring herself to do it..
No problem for asking the question...I can get away with asking the "obvious". My husband has no clue when it comes to cars so this is all I got!
