Default Liberty Tail Lights? Are they possible?

Alright so a few weeks ago I parked next to a white 09 liberty in my school parking lot. I was bored and took a look to see the differences and I noticed that the tail lights look really similar. They wrap around the side of the quarter panel and look to be the same size as the 84-96 XJ tails. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had the same thought as I had. I'm sure it is a possible conversion, but with how much work and fabrication? They're rounder on the edges so something would need to fill in the dead space (plastic for example). Here's some pictures of the two tail lights so you can see the similarites yourself,
