Left headlight dim/ Left signal doesn't work when lights on but stays lit on dash
Left headlight and both signal lights (the orange lights below and next to the headlight) are very dim. When lights are on my left signal doesn't work, it just gets stuck on, out side and as well as the dashboard... Everything works fine when the lights are off.. I replaced the bulbs on all the orange lights on the front (both sides) so thats not it.. Any ideas of what to try?

I would recommend disconnecting the harness plugs in that area and inspecting them for corrosion or outright damage (including the wires). Two of the lights you've described have no interaction with the multi-switch and if there's voltage being backfed to the flasher relay or it's being grounded by a short, it won't flash. I'm not sure about a '97 but on my '89 the lights on the side are parking lights, not blinkers.

I had the exact same problem as you, except I traced it back to the harness connector behind the panel where the spare sits, above the fuel filler this is for the wires to the rear lights. All my connections were corroded and green. Maybe also try locating the grounds and checking bulb sockets for rust.

I wiggled the main harness and wiggled a few wires down by the kick panel fuse box and now it works fine.. so theres a short somewhere so i'll look into the harness if it acts up again. I'm sure it will lol.. thanks for all the inputs
