Default Leak coming from top of windshield

I didnt notice this leak till we had a bad storm and it was raining side ways, so its not that severe but when i went to assess what was causing it, i didnt expect this. only the middle section of the top of the windshield is glued in, out of the whole top, heres some pics and if you couldnt see it in the first two pics, i highlighted in pink where the adhesive is. What do i use to seal it the rest of the way?

First off...don't mess with trying to seal the trim.

But rather you need to seal the glass to the pinch-weld underneath.

Need to get a windshield trim remover. It slides under the trim (flat against glass) and releases the retainer clips.
Might need to get some new clips as they MAY be plastic and tend to break.
Easily replaced

Once the trim is removed. Take a utility knife. Point it straight in, Like you were stabbing it. Right against the edge of the glass. Push it in until you feel the metal bottom. Cut along the entire top of the windshield. Take a small flat screwdriver and remove ANY butyl seal (thats what they call the sticky rubber seal they put the glass in with)

You want to make a clean groove along the top of the windshield.
Be careful not to get "under" the glass with the screwdriver OR you will be asking about replacing the windshield.

Get some rubber sealant. Most auto parts store have a caulking tube of this stuff. There is also a product called GOOP that has a rubber based sealant.
Whatever you seal it with needs to be flexible.

Clean any loose material. Needs to be clean and dry.
Fill the groove you made along the top of the windshield.
Smooth it out with your fingers. Have a rag handy.

IF there are any broken trim retainers that need replacing, replace them NOW while the sealant is soft.

Leave trim off for a day or so, the sealant needs to breathe for the curing process.
In a day or so, replace the trim but just popping it into place. (Base of hand is best tool for this)

I have successfully repaired dozens of leaky windshields using this process.

Howler's way is obviously the RIGHT way to do it. I successfully fixed a leaking windshield in my son's 87 XJ by re-sealing it with clear silicone. It's gone through 3 nasty winters and it's still holding fine.
