In the midst of an 8.8 swap and I pulled my springs to replace both bushings. While I have them apart contemplating disassemble for paint and grease, but I've read conflicting things.
Lots of surface rust atm so they could do with anything to make them slide better.
I read on Eaton springs website that you're not supposed to use petroleum based grease or risk weakening the spring over time (something to do with the particular type of steel). They also advise against painting leaves as it will wear out and create unwanted space between the springs.
May just wire wheel them and spray the outside with some of that Eastwood rattle can stuff I have laying around.
