Default Le Baron Hood Vent Installation Question

I'm planning the install of my Le Baron hood vents.

I still have the underhood insulation. I was going to completely take it out, but then I thought, "I'm going to have to put a blanket over the engine during the install anyway. I wonder if I can just leave it on to catch all the filings and stuff?" So to those who've cut up their hoods, is there an issue with leaving the insulation on during the drilling & cutting?

And a followup question: If the insulation is mainly to control noise, I was thinking that maybe I'd just cut out holes in the insulation for the hood vents and leave the rest of it there. Is there a problem with that idea or should I just remove the insulation completely?

As mild as your temps are, have u considered something like this for ventilation for maybe 1-2 of the warmest months of the year and close her up afterwards?

That way has never appealed to me. As a safety manager, it horrifies me to think what would happen if I ran into something. Normally, the hood would collapse, but in this case, I can just see it transforming into a guillotine!

I go out into the desert a lot so I need the venting. I also like the look of actual hood vents, hence this mod works best for me.

It was only a suggestion and alternative to cutting holes in a hood.

Nah, that's cool. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't mind cutting into the hood. Well...as long as I do it right the first time.
