I have a 1997 jeep cherokee sport. The jeep has a 3" lift and 30" mud tires. I seem to get poor gas millage around 14MPG. I got the jeep in the spring ofthis year with 160,000 miles on it. I ran some seafoam through the system when I got the jeep to clean everything. The jeep just had a tune up with a new air filter and plugs put in. I do not know the MPG before I purchased the Jeep. But I read somewhere that I could have a lazy o2 sensor that needs to be cleaned. Has anyone ever cleaned an O2 sensor if so how.

 

There are two o2's. Idk about cleaning/refurbishing them, they are probably the original ones from 97 and at this point, pretty well used. Id equate it to a spark plug: it's worth it to just go new.

 

I took out the plugs today and they were all white speckled. Also on the first cylinder the plug was alot whiter than the others and almost looked like it was burnty. these plug were just replaced around 7k ago. I have no codes showing up.

 

Well i bench tested my o2 sensor I put the torch to it and it ran up to .83- .85 on the volt meter but it struggled to get upto .9. I took the flame off and it jumped to .0 than went up to .5 just as fast and hung out there until started to cool off and it slowly went back down.
