I was looking in Chiltons manual, and saw that pre-95 XJ's have allen head bolts and different retaing hardware then the 95 and newer models. My brakes on my 93 were the newer style. Is this a popular swap? It confuses me though because when I ordered my brakes it came with the post 95 setup or retaining hardware

I did a swap out of brakes on my 1991 and 1990. We ditched the ABS for a newer year Manual brake system. The ABS during those years were recalled. I was having to take it to the dealer every 3-6 months when I was dealing with it on my 1991. I got tired of it so I had my mechanic swap out the entire system. No more human power brakes.
I believe we stole the systems from a 96-97 model XJ.
