klank noise? trans.?

Default klank noise? trans.?

my jeep makes a klank noise when i put in to gear just one klank ("sounds kinda like a thump") and if i go from drive to rev. it does it to. what is the cause of that?

check your rear driveshaft u-joints.

ya bad ujoints will cause this, otherwise i have a klunk aswell very similar to the one ur describing and i just give it a sec in neutral then go to drive. its easier on the tranny anyways.

yeah ive been doing that and alot of time when i give it a sec. it want make the noise.

no i just posted that to make you check something that isnt related to your problem



think about it. when you shift your foot is on the brake. the brakes are at your rear wheels. when you shift from a resting position to drive, if the u-joints are really loose/worn the slack will need to be accounted for and a clanking noise may result.

its either something in your transmission driveshaft or rear axle, and more times than not its a worn u-joint.
