could A clogged heater core cause it to leak from somewhere?

No, not a clogged heater core, pressure comes from the heat. Think teapot. Down from between those bolts on the left side? I betting on a freeze plug if the block isn't cracked. Don't think a 91 has the sensor on the back of the head, but if it does I'd check that again as well as the plugs on the left.

If it's above the pan gasket and IN FRONT of that pan bolt I'm having a hard time seeing how that could be a plug on the back. Get some good light on that left side.
