so .. i had the misfortune of goin to work super early a few weeks ago .. to meet with police .. burglar alarm at warehouse

dock door opened on its own .. old switch finally gave out, circuit wide open


Cops noticed a mis-tinted window on my 1990 XJ while we were talkin

asked if had been stolen ever .. I bought it like that

so .. he mentioned kill switch or alarm .. since a recent string of XJ thefts in denver

if i pursue this new XJ project to the full extent


prefer a hidden Kill ... I hate alarms, even though the 1 i bought today has alarm

yes.. they ran my name / birthdate in their computers .. Im clean fellas .. they always do that . we just replaced entire alarm system in warehouse

now need to make my new project a pain to steal

 

I remember years ago when I toyed around with a Foxbody Mustang project guys talking about having the fuel pump relay under the drivers seat. Get out of the car, pull the relay, stick it in your pocket. No relay, won't start. If you could somehow add that in, an XJ "expert" wouldn't know about it.

 

use 3 way switch. Instead of starter voltage will go to horn.
$3 switch $5 wires.
You can also install switch ign on/horn goes off.
Cheap and easy

 

Its all about layers of security. Alarm, kill switches, boxing it in, garage.

 

NRG wheel lock, cuz you can start a car with a screwdriver, and XJs are high enough to get under to the starter, and if your fuel pump kill switch goes out on you while you are driving, well that=bad, but if you cant steer it?

 

I won't go into details on my kill switch but it's a pressure switch under the carpet and shuts down the entire ignition system.
I set it up so it looks like I never touch anything, so if I were to be carjacked I kill it and walk away.
