Wink Keyless system.

I read about keyless system .. and some have it and some does not.. i have a cherokee 1999 and it has the power locks / windows.. they toldme that if you have the keyless system you will know when you have that green circuit board inside your roof lights compartment..

i took the roof lights compartment off and took pictures of it.

can anyone tell me if this is it? or what is that green board...
and if it is how can I reprogram a remote and where i can get it.. ? thanks..

Idk about the green board but on the other side of your oh console there will be a little black bulb. If its there then you have it. You have to find 1 on Ebay cuz they are discontinued. As for programming it tells you how in your manuel.

Yep, that is the remote keyless entry circuit board. My understanding is that it needs to be programmed at the dealership with the odbskdfhhjjii (or however it is spelled) computer. Pricing can be up to the guy running the machine. I talked to a jeep service center and they wanted over $100 to program another remote. I have heard of people having their jeep in for another service talking the tech into programming it for little or nothing while it was already in for work.

HTH.

I just put an overhead console in my 00XJ, and during the exchange, I had to swap out the two circuit boards. The remote is programmed to the board and disconnecting the power does not wipe out the programming. Point is that you might find a xj in the JY with remotes in it. Just snag the remotes and the RKE board, bet it wouldn't cost more than $20. Now, it is a crap shoot if they were matched, but you should be able to return them if they don't work. The JY near me has a 30 day return policy.

Im reading out of my factory owners manual and it says, sit inside and close all the doors. Place ignition in the off position. Open the drivers door and leave open during programming. Move the mechanical door lock lever to the lock position. Aim the transmitter at the keyless entry receiver and press lock button. Hold the button until the light on the transmitter blinks twice. The doors locks will cycle. Turn ignition off within 20 seconds. Check receiver memory by cycling the door locks using the transmitter. Up to four transmitters may be programmed into a vehicle. Thats step by step per the factory. I should note that this is for 96 XJs. Not sure about the others.

Could you post up a pic of the remote for this year? I'm trying to figure out which remote to buy, but 96 seems to be the odd year out. 93-95 has one type, 97-01 has another.

any help on this topic would be helpful!

I don't have a pic but i believe that the 96 is only a two button, no panic button.

As far as the 99 cherokee goes, it is easy and inexpensive to program a fob at the dealership, or as another option it is very easy to wire an aftermarket keyless system or remote start with keyless.
