I have a '97 Cherokee Sport that originally came with keyless entry...I bought two keyless entry remotes and took them to the Jeep dealer to be programmed. The dealer told me there was a problem with the "computer" not accepting them and the computer would need to be replaced (I'm assuming he was referring to the piece overtop the rear view mirror) anyway, the dealer quoted me a price of $300 to replace it, but after already paying them $100 to essentilally tell me it was broken, I wasn't willing to put out more money...anyone know if this sounds accurate? I'm sure I could get this part from the junk yard much cheaper and program the remote myself. Thanks.
