Default keyless entry problem?

Ok I have an odd problem with the remote keyless entry and door locks in my 98. Sometimes my power locks and remote wont work. I can hit unlock on my remote and the dome lamp comes on but all I hear is a click from the passenger door switch. Now if I open the passenger door the locks work and so does the remote but as soon as I shut the door it goes inop again. Any ideas or anyone have this problem?

Maybe check for damaged wiring between the door and door jamb.

Check the wiring as well as the mechanism of your door lock and your wireless entry...

I had a similiar problem when i first got my jeep. My problem was that ONLY my front passenger lock would work via switch or remote. After hours of playing around, It seems to have boiled down to a loose wire and or harness for the door locks in the fuse panel. I believe its the connector on the left directly underneath the fuse panel. You will have to remove the kick panel to get to it.

I unplugged it and reseated it and havent had a problem since. Hope this helps.

Well, sounds like you have a Dead door lock actuator on your Driver side door and the passager sounds like it has a bad/loose connection in the loom. You have to do three things in electrical, Do you have power? Do you have a ground? and do you have current/ampage? If the answer to all three of those then the part or load is faulty and this is stating the obvious but if you answered either of those three no, then you found your issue that you need to trace.

What I don't understand is why none of the locks work unless I open the door. Like I said when I hit unlock on my remote the domelight comes on and I hear a click from the passenger door but no action. But if I open the passenger door all works normal? It only seems to act up when its really cold out. Possibly a bad ground or passenger door lock switch?
