I have a 96 cherokee with power everything and i was wondering if its possible to install an aftermarket keyless entry system. if it is possible please let me know. if you could recomend a brand it would be greatly appreciated.

 

I would be interested in this as well. Apparently mine came with keyless entry but the previous owner "lost the key fob"

 

my friend installed his factory keyless for his z71. Something about a paperclip to trip the sensors or something to recognize the remote. I would look into this. Viper alarms are what every one has but they bug the crap out of me!!. haha they always chirp when you have a loud exhaust and i used to make em go off in my school parking deck by being in 1st with my prelude. So even if it is good, they are way to sensitive for me.

 

and the fobs for the 96 is hard to come by and they always fetch a bit on eBay. grand cherokee and newer than 96 will not work. mine came with keyless too but same case here... it was misplaced. just going to drop an alarm on it in the spring.

 

I just bought a 98 xj about 30 min ago...and it has no remote but it has power locks so I assume it is compatible to have one right? I would like to know asap if I can/should get a jeep remote. Otherwise I was thinking about getting a remote start that would be a remote unlock too, but those remotes always bug me they make them so ugly and big I just want a simple stock remote.
