I have a 95 XJ and bought an aftermarket remote keyless entry fob that I was able to program and use. Unfortunately, the operating range is very short. I'm wondering if this limitation is due to my aftermarket fob or the vehicle transmitter. What is the normal operating range of OEM Jeep keyless entry fobs? Is there a way to tweak the transmitter or an easy and inexpensive way to amplify the signal?
The remote for my 97 XJ seems only to be good for around 4/5 meters, but perhaps new batteries will improve this.
IMHO, I've never had a keyless entry remote that had long range..I'm guessing that manufactures see this as a security risk?!

Please try changing a battery in car remote. This usually helps!
