Default Key Won't Turn Off - post heater core swap

Hey guys. Working on my 91 Cherokee today. I had a failed heater core, so went ahead and got it swapped out today. Upon putting everything back together I took it for a spin, everything worked great (most importantly the heat blew hot). After I shut the engine off, the key would not rotate all the way off so the key could be removed. It stays in the accessory position. Is there something I could have missed? It seemed to stick on me a few times in the past month, but nothing rocking it couldn't fix.

Thanks for any and all input!

It normally comes back lined up with the arrow on the steering column. Now it comes back only to one spot forward of that. I'm headed out there now to mess with it.

When I have it all the way back now, no lights or anything are on. Just won't release key. There is still one click forward for acc, and one more to start

With the key turned forward in acc everything is on as it should be. Key will not remove anywhere in the rotation. Maybe interlock issue?

Yeah I am still having this issue, haven't had much time to dig into it.

Steering wheel has no effect on it and either does what position the key is in as far as releasing it. Also not affected by what gear the vehicle is in.

I live in a rural area and frankly, I hardly ever remove my keys anyhow. So I'm not terribly hindered by it. But I may pull the key cylinder this week to see if it has anything to do with ir

Could be ignition switch, key cylinder or coloumn linkage.

By chance could the shifter/key interlock cable prevent me from turning the key back into the off accessorie position. I have done dome tinkering and when i use something to force the little yellow plastic peice in the ignition housing forward then it allows me to turn the key.

Any suggestions on fixing this. WILL I need to replace the Interlock cable or is there the possibility that I didn't not put things together correctly when putting the dash back in.
