just picked up a 99+ intake manifold for my 97 cherokee.
Just wondering what else I will need to run that intake. It has the fuel rail and injectors on it as well.
I noticed someone had a fuel pressure regulator along with that intake and they had upped the pressure but I cant remember where I found that info at.
Any more info would be great

Offroad when you pull an injector for any reason ALWAYS use new o-rings. You don't want any chance of leaks with fuel and especially fuel under pressure.

See it makes for a better flow and quit the HP and Torq boost. You'll probably need the 99 or newer power steering bracket also..

I think I am going to look into getting one of the newer intake manifolds for my 91 XJ. Are these found on just the 99+ ? I read elsewhere that the good manifolds were on the 97+.

Yep there found on the 99+, but you can use the one from the WJ and as far as I know the TJ also. So you don't have to just get one from a XJ...

So, get the injectors with the new manifold and re-use everything else off of my HO manifold then? Sounds like a pretty easy swap for a 20 HP gain. Should be relatively inexpensive, too, if I can find one in the JY.

I think Nick is right about the power steering.. I read an article in one of my mags that they had to run a new powersteering pump and stuff.. I will see if I can find it.
Didnt find the magazine article but I did find a writeup on another site.. http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6355
I believe this is where Nick got the comparison picture as well. This write up also states that modifications are required to the power steering to work with the new intake.
Also, Nitrogoat... you didnt mention where you got the intake or what the previous owner may have used it for. In the link above they mentioned an additional fuel pressure regulator required since the newer injectors require a higher pressure (49psi)

YOU need the PS pump and bracket. IIRC it was in 96 when Jeep switched everything over to the new style. And 20 hp? I dunno about that. I know that mallcrawlin article has a dyno run on it but I didnt feel a 20hp at the wheels gain- maybe ~10.

just re-use all your old stuff. the heads, timing, and all that other fun stuff changed a tiny bit throughout the years and using a different pressure regulator with the wrong injectors, etc, may mess up a few things a bit.
