Hey everyone, so after my last inspection, the mechanic was really talking to me about the rust (I knew it had it, but was being naive). I've been hunting for a deal since, planning to use my 89 as a trail rig only. I found this '91 for $700 and the rust is very minimal for Maine. 2 small holes in the drivers rocker, the pass rear panel had been patched, etc. Anyways, it's an automatic 4x4 4.0HO (H.O. does haul compared to my other) with 157k. She need some work, but with the rust being so minimal I think it's worth it. I'm making a laundry list of things to do:

*There's no hitch, so I'd like to find one of those.
*It has the keyless entry ball (wasn't aware they had factory keyless in '91, anyone know where to get the fob?).
*High beams aren't working (someone may have hacked with the lights, when I put highs on the indicator comes on but all lights go out)
*It has some codes flash out when I key on 3 times, I did a quick search but didn't find anything, does anyone have a writeup of the codes?
*Needs a radio antenna (who cares)
*I should probably change all fluids / seafoam
*Ebrakes not working
*Need to test if 4x4 is working
*Driver side power-window not working (I'm a smoker, gotta fix that and there's no smokers window)
*Someone fat must have had it, seat slopes on the left side (anyone ever fix that sort of thing?)
*Stupid spoiler looking thing on hatch has to come off
*It's got a state inspection until October, so I'll be putting this one on the road asap
*Front end is tight, no wobbles, drove it home 75+mph for about 30 miles.

I think that's it at this point.

I'll get some pictures up asap.

Any help is greatly appreciated as always!

as far as the window goes its pretty easy to figure out, mine had a wire that had just worked loose so i pulled the panel drilled the rivets cause i couldnt pull a gumby move to reach up there and then just put some female spade connectors on there and it works great now

Thanks, once it's a little warmer out I'll check that out. Anyone got any ideas on the other stuff?

I think it's got the Dana 30 / 35 setup?

I'm checking voltage at the headlights today. Running lights stay on so maybe I just have two bad headlights? Not likely but I'll see. I assume that I should have 12v or so on pins.

Looks like I have a leak at the rear main seal?

Not too bad. Has less rust than my 96. My floors are about to fall off. And yes, you have the Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear.

Thanks!

So the 4x4 isn't engaging. Any ideas where to start? I've also got a grinding going, but I think that may be just the brakes or something, I'll have to look when it's a little warmer... ahh a garage some day... When I'm stopped in gear, sometimes I get sort of a thunking sound that I can hear and almost feel in the floor boards. It seems like it may be coming from the transmission. The only other thing I noticed of the transmission is that it shifts quick and a little hard into 2nd (not any of the other gears.) I put some additives into it to run for a little bit before I start changing the fluids.

Does 4x4 on this one have a vacuum activation? I didn't see the lines that I was familiar with on my 89.

Thanks for all the help, this forum is the best!

Still wondering if anyone's got a link to the key codes.
