Just bought my first Cherokee...
What should I expect? I recently got a job at Chrysler and decided that I should probably drive one of their vehicles.
I bought a 2001 Cherokee Sport with 82,000 miles on it.
Its needs a good cleaning, and some attention to some of the body panels (original owner family was letting his 17 year old daughter drive it)
They said that it over heated and the garage said that they would need a new radiator, new water pump.....
There is no coolant in the valve cover or on the dipstick.....no steam or coolant smell in the exhaust. Have not done a compression test, or even driven it.....but they have a stack of receipts and it looks like the entire suspension and steering components/dampers were replaced sometime in the cars life.
They were asking $1500 for the car and had about 50 people call (Craigslist listing).
I'm an engineer and have built my own cars from the ground up before.....I think I just need to get this thing home and go throught it with a fine toothed comb.....
Did I get a good deal?

You didn't post pics of just how bad the body damage is, but if it's pretty straight then it's probably a pretty good deal even if you had to pay to have the head replaced. Does sound more like a coolant system problem though, maybe a bad water pump.
