Not sure what your talking about in the 1st pair of picks, but the second one is probably for an unused sensor or something.

It just looks like a hose that is capped just looken to find out what its purpose is. It goes behind the engine block. And do people on here recommend Haynes or chilton?

Its next to the one for the transmission and not sure why its capped or what it is though.... I have a Chilton book cause my dad had it, but seems like everyone else has a Haynes. Idk any difference between them. Go run and pick one up, its a great learning and help source and can probably help you figure out what that is.

To be honest, in that first pic, I have no idea. I assume you mean the hose/tube beside the transmission dipstick? There is not one on my 99. All I know is to trace it to the origin for both.

Lettke...

the pic with the tube with a "cap" is actually a vent tube with a one-way check valve to let pressure out and not let water and crap in.

if you have one on the other side of the engine (the intake manifold side), then the one in the pic is the transfer case vent tube and leave it alone.

if you only have that one in your engine compartment, then that is the transmission vent tube. Also, leave it alone.

as for the connectors, they are probably as other posters said, capped off sensor connectors.

cheers!

Please fill out your profile on vehicle and option etc.
It helps us diagnose your questions with out having to ask.

I think you have a newer model in the 97 to 01 range. Not sure you haven't told us.
That hose beside the transmission dipstick does look like a transmission breather tube OR the one for your front axle someone has moved from the drivers side.
The plug looks like the plug that goes into the servo for the cruise control.
I'm guessing you don't have cruise on this as there was a cap on that plug , correct?
