jeep will sputter and rough idle
My 2000 jeep Cherokee sport will run fine when it has been sitting over night and cooled down but only for the first couple miles after start up then it will sputter and not run good at all with slow acceleration replaced the cps (it was 10$) didn't change. could a more expensive cps fix the problem? Jeep has 187000 miles .jeep would not start in first place that is why I did cps.Guy I got it from said that it had been sitting for half a year....any ideas thanks

$10 CPS will do nothing but cause headaches. This is one of the few parts that is a dealer-only item.
Your post is a little unclear. Did replacing the CPS allow the engine to start?
Any codes thrown by the PCM? Scan for pending codes too.
Fuel system free of water and air? Tuneup with spark plugs?

Any codes? It could be the coolant temp sensor telling your computer that the coolant is 40 degrees all the time like mine was. It runs fine when the engine is cool but not after a few minutes when it warms up.
I did replace cps to get it started.....the check engine light is on so I will check codes......Got the cps from eBay......am going to get a new cps from Napa today and see if that works thanks
