Default Jeep start-up problems.

So, 2000 Jeep Cherokee limited. It takes a few cranks of the key to get it going. Any idea what it might be? I think the solenoid? starter? I don't know. Any suggestions?

Recent development, kicking it into neutral makes it start on the 1st go.
Before that it would crank and not start for the first few tries
