Why would u even need the efan in freezing cold weather?.......wiring efan to ignition runs the fan constant, right?......but why. The OP says he has a complete new cooling system, however it leaks. With a properly functioning cooling system, this time of year u should never hear the efan come on, except when using defrost.

Not sure what u mean by "tight fitting reservoir cap"???? The OP has a "open" cooling system.....all the bottle cap is supposed to do is prevent coolant from slooshing out of the bottle......it holds no pressure.

Re-fill the cooling system very, very, very slowly....idle motor 'til hot with the rad cap off....check coolant level in both the rad and bottle for several days to follow, motor COLD.

Try plumbers tape around thread to reservoir, then barely tighten cap All caps don't match reservoirs these days. Do Not run without cap. Are you sure your cooling fan is running?

Guess our problems were older Jeep issues. They worked. Keep posted

What year is your XJ?.......is it a "closed" cooling system?

The OP has a '97 XJ, "open" cooling system. The bottle in an "open" system is "vented" to the atmosphere.....sealing the bottle cap does nothing.

I'm guessing he means possily cracked head, since there was no coolant in it.

We'll I got it all back together and I've been driving probably put 100 miles on it but I have a slight problem. It runs at or below 210 but the radiator cap leaks slightly. I just replaced the radiator and I've tried two different caps. Overflow tube isn't clogged either system is full as well as overflow. I'm stumped.

Take those rad caps back under warranty.......maybe try a cap from the dealer. A new rad and new cap(s) shouldn't leak.

When u say "system is full as well as overflow", do u mean the bottle is about 1/3 full, motor COLD, and a little higher, motor HOT?

Yes. I fiddled around with it about an hour ago and found that the cap seamed loose on the filler neck. I bent the tabs a bit so it would fit better cleaned the seals and reinstalled it so far no leaks.
