will a engine harness as shown in pic from a 1999 jeep cherokee xj with auto and np231 4.0 work in a 1998 cherokee xj of same specs? i do know the injector plugs are different, but will the wiring be same plugs etc? my stock one from my 98 xj i believed failed so im thinking of buying one used from someone here but theirs is a 99 xj.

 

Ah, why bother bringing in a different ECM if you haven't been able to pin point the problem? I'd have a hard time believing its not a somewhat easy fix.. Dunno..

 

needing the harness, not the ecm. the harness i had was heat damaged and beyond repair and was giving me issues with the injectors so i tried repairing the harness and did not succeed so therefore i need another harness and making sure the 99 will work in my 98? i do know the injector plugs are different but just curious to know if everything else is good.

 

Different injector plugs? (not the ev-1 IIRC). Doesn't feel good. If that 99 harness looks the same as a 2000-2001, that might not be good also. That said, I have no clue. Myself I'd want to find one that looks the same.

Just thinking...the 2000, 2001 mischief might have started in 99.

 

what do you mean dflinstone? the injector plugs that a gentleman here has to offer me looks like mine but the injector plugs pigtails look different. other than that it looks same. i do need a harness from one that has the distribitor style 4.0 rather than the one with coil packs. remember, im a noob to jeep cherokees y'all.
