the only year they ever put a 5.9 in a grand was 98..and they only made around 10 or 12 thousand of them, they are not great on gas and only run on premium..but i really regret selling mine

man, a more modest way to pep up the ol I6 is get a 4.0 thats stroked out to 4.7! cheaper than a V8, and a little more kick to it than stock.

Well with the engine and Tranny I have $800 tied up $200 in the new shifter; 5 spd to Auto . I could not afford the $1200 in the 5spd to match the engine. $125 in the engine mounts from Novak, 2" budget (a must for the V8 swap), $10 in the Holly Preformer Intake, yes ten dollars. And about $800-$1k worth of parts to go plus some 31" or 32" shoes instead of the stocks.

And to top it all off one digital camera as mine died not long ago. LOL

Not only no but **** No on the SBF; every Ford I have ever owned locked up on me with in months of getting it. Except my wifes G Marque it only dropped the tranny after a week.

Default Quick Question

K I have a real quick question for all of you. What is the normal fuel pressure coming from the electric pump in the gas tank? Since I'm going carbs I know I have to get a regulator. Just need to know what one to get.

Nice!
I would go with a 350 with Vortec heads( 96-2002 Chevys). Its been done before. I also saw a XJ with a 396 BB.
If you google Cherokee 350 conversions you will see allot of info.. Make sure you take lots of pics..

I have an 85 xj with a 4.3 in it, and it is pretty much the same procedure to run a v-8. Buy the advance adpapters frame kit (190) and I recommned swapping a chevy Trans like a 700r4 behind it. You can either run a a 1/2 ton t-case or you can get an adpater to run the stock jeep t-case. I strongly recommend upgrading your rear axle to at least a 8.25 if not a xj d44.

I would definately recommend going TBI and put your rig on the Atkins Diet for Jeeps.. NO CARBS.

Check my webshots page in my sig for pics of my 85

Bah I'm not a crawler so Carbs are fine with me. I already found advanced and have the mounts and a 60l behind it and will be doing a shaft adaption for now and a axle later. Well gotta go for now. Later and thanks for the info guys.
