Default Jeep Cherokee Wikibooks

Just found this when I was looking for a link on Liberty brakes.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Jeep_Cherokee

It is a resource available for anyone to use as a repository for the accumulated knowledge of our passion, Jeep Cherokees.
Unfortunately it's lacking a lot and I believe we as a group should populate it with our tips and tricks and knowledge of the special things unique to the XJ's.

I was able to find out quite a bit on the KJ Liberty from it and it answered a question I had.
Did you know that the Liberty uses the Chrysler 8.25 axle and is equipped with Disc brakes?
I have found the wreckers up here very reluctant to part with the Disc brake parts off a Grand Cherokee because they say if basically ruins the sale of the complete axle. So I went to the dealer to check on just the backing plate. I was going to use new rotor shoes, pads and caliper anyways. The plate was only $35 ea but no longer available.

So now that I know the Liberty has discs that will swap in with NO customization and is still in production I'm off to the stealership to get a price on the Liberty backing plates. Will let you know and when I do the job will write up a "How to" with part number etc for both Cherokee Forum and the Wiki books.
