jeep cherokee stock air box and some questions..please and thank you
ive had my cherokee for awhile and my friend who also owns one pointed out that my stock airbox is missing that square plastic piece with the foam that hooks up to the front of the truck from the airbox....i went to a wrecker and it seems like it is all one piece ..any help on this and also..my vehicle is a 95 4.0l sport high output. it gets pretty bad mileage.. although its got a 6.5" bds longarm lift and 33s with only 3.55 gears. i added a stock replacement k&n filter, poweraid throttle body spacer, new cap plugs rotar wires. engine is rebuilt the truck itself only has 70xxxmiles. could somehting be wrong it burns fuel worse than my k5 blazer. 20 bucks will burn up in an hour of driving. one more question what is that oval shaped cylinder sitting behind my battery
to whoever answers thanks in advance i hope someone can help

I've had my cruise control stuck open and it gave me horrific mileage. Trust me, you'll have a lean code if you have that and it's open. You'll also smoke like a chimney on WOT every time.
I had 33 1250 with a 6.5" lift. I NEVER got better than 11 MPG. I downsized to 3.5 with 31x1050 (still have the stock gearing as well) and I'm a little bit lesser than stock gas mileage. I also purposely went for the Dunlop Mud tires because they're a lighter weight tire than the Firestone Destination MTs I had. Those tires, even at 31x1050, were 11 pounds heaver than the Dunlops. But damn was it a sturdy tire. Felt like some sort of composite rubber. Put over 8 thousand miles in them and they still looked brand new.
It's also worthwhile mentioning I have a stroker, so with my current lift and tires that probably is helping maintain the close to stock specifications of gas mileage when I'm not stepping on it.
Can't beat 5 MPGs when off road though.
