jeep cherokee not starting.... please help!!!
hey guys, i have a 94 cherokee, wotn start.... was driving it and just completely died..never started since, that was a month ago.
its not getting spark, i changed the coil, the cam sensor, crank sensor etc....
one thing is i read the codes from the flashing engine light....one is 12, 54, and 55......55 is the coil pickup, in distributer....when i unplug the distributer...the code goes away?
should i try buying a new distributer? if so, can i just pull it out, and not crank anything over and put a new one back in???or no?

I don't really know what to say...55 is end of codes, 12 is just the battery had been disconnected, and 54 is your cam sensor. Btw the codes are first in the sticky, "info threads" above the forum.
Hopefully someone will come along....in the meantime I might double check the install of the cam sensor and it's wiring....
OBD1 Models: 1991-1995
1) Start engine (if possible). Move transmission shift lever
through all positions, ending in Park. Turn A/C switch on and then off
(if equipped).
2) Turn engine off. Without starting engine again, turn
ignition on, off, on, off and on within 5 seconds. Record 2-digit
fault codes as displayed by flashing MIL.
3) For example, fault code 23 is displayed as flash, flash,
4-second pause, flash, flash, flash. After a slightly longer pause,
other codes stored are displayed in numerical order. When MIL begins
to flash fault codes, it cannot be stopped. Start over if count is
lost.
Code 55 indicates end of fault code display.
12 Battery disconnected. Battery or power to the ECM disconnected in the last 50 key cycles
54 Distributor sync pickup. Change sync sensor in distributor.

When installing a dizy, you need the rotor to end up exactly in the right place. Because of the worm gear this means starting it a tad counter clockwise, so as the rotor turns coming down, it ends up in the right place. It's a bit tricky.
