Default Jeep cherokee no start issue - Video

Just finished putting a motor in... went to start it and this happens. I need all suggestions. Don't tell me that it is my battery.

If the starter is bad and it won't even try to turn over the motor, will it cause everything to shut off? I have to wait about 3 minutes to try starting it again or nothing turns on.

That looks to be the ignition switch that sits right on top of the steering column just under the dash. Mine did that and that was the cause of it.

Just a suggestion but I would start by making sure that all of the grounds are clean and shinny.

Well I am at least going to take it out and bench test it with some jumper cables. Gotta do the free stuff first.. It's 2 bolts and five minutes mine as well.

You can jump the starter when its mounted on motor no need to remove it. Do headlights work when power cuts off ?

Headlights shut off. I tried jumping the starter already it sparks once and then doesn't turn. Everything shuts off.

I don't understand how the battery I took out of my 99 after I drove it could be bad. I will clean up connections tomorrow too.

you have a bad connection to the battery, or a bad ground to the chassis.
