People flat tow XJs all the time behind RVs. I have never heard of it causing any major issues aside from running the miles up on the odometer. I suppose any part of the truck that would constantly be moving when being towed would wear accordingly (axles, suspension, hubs, tires, etc...) But I don't think the engine, brakes, or trans will be too bad off because of it, just tow it with the trans in Neutral and all should be well...

if it is automatic and you tow it in neutral it will cook the clutches.it needs the motor running to turn the pump that keeps the clutches lubricated.if it was a 4 wheel drive you could tow it with the transfer case in neutral.
