Jeep 4.0 Problems
I have a 98 XJ. 4.0, AW4, NP231, D30, D35 with UpCountry, Police and Tow Packages.
Long story short it overheated and was ran with too much oil (I think) and the bottom end started knocking as I was driving it one day. Immediately cut it off and trailered i home. Drained the excess oil and no longer knocked, but had low oil pressure. It had blown a headgasket which I thought thinned out the oil causing the low oil pressure, and after I changed it I saw it still had low oil pressure even with new sensor. Im guessing the coolant in the oil destroyed the bearings.
So, here are my problems. Low oil pressure (0 at idle,20 while driving), only running on 4 cylinders (1&3 do not change when wire is pulled from plug)
What should I do to fix these issues? I the cylinder walls in this motor arent scored and have no ridges. The head is good. Its just the bottom end.
Edit: I put a spare set of new spark plugs in to verify that they were not the cause of running on 4 cylinders

Cheapest option is a junkyard replacement. Just did one, total out the door was $700. Runs perfect.
They do sell bottom end rebuild kits, but some people swear that its just a time buyer.
Just my 2 cents

Once I get home I will do some tests to find out why the cylinders are dead and post back. Im just not sure if its feasible to get a JY engine when I could just replace my bottom end bearings vice versa.
