I have a 3in lift.

What kind of jack do you guys recommend? I see those hi-lift jacks. I hear that those aren't the most safe. I have a floor jack (Its the tallest that harbor frieght sells and it doesn't get my rear wheels off of the ground). I need something safe I can take on the road with me.

I keep a husky 3 ton suv floor jack with me. It has a peice to make it taller. It lifts it enough to get the tires up with my 3.5 inch lift. Now it doesnt work to lift the jeep enough to lift it from the body.

 

But it is no use on a trail or desert. lol

 

If your jack don't go up high enuf put a block of wood on top just use your head and its safe. If you don't use your head you will get what you got coming to you. And about the hi lifts they are used cause you can use them off road. And there cheep in WI you can pick them up at a Tractor Supply for 40-60 can't beat that when its a 5min drive.

old neighbor had this problem when using his jack at home. he welded a hefty 4.5" tall block of steel to the top of the lift arm with some groves he cut into them so it could cradle the axles and frame (depending on were he was lifting it from). worked great when on flat ground, but for off road, the Hi-Lift can't be beat.

 

Wow, for a quick second I thought you were saying to literally "use your head" Would it be between the jack and the wood block or the wood block and the frame/chassis?LOL!!! Just messin' with ya!!
