Is the 242 from a pre 91, if not no and will have to change the input of the tcase to 23 spline. And also the whole shift assembly will have to be acquired also as the shift pattern is different.

If its the same era and same transmission, then its basically a direct swap. You will need a sub-harness and some shifter parts, but otherwise it reuses all the same parts (driveshafts etc)

Thanks, I bought a 242 from a junkyard that had "96-01 auto" marked on it and it was a direct swap...........driving it already.........Thanks EHALL.........
