Default Irratic Shifts after Kickdown (Solved)

I recently purchased a 1992 Cherokee Limited. It seems to run well but the engine bay was a mess. So, I decided to power was it and clean it up. After I did the power wash, I began getting an erratic shift after the transmission shifted out of overdrive on a hill. It would shift into 3rd like normal then immediately shift into 2nd, then back and forth between the gears until I let off the accelerator. I have checked connectors and vacuum lines and re-adjusted the kick-down linkage.......... Anyone have any thoughts........

Bill

Sounds like ya hit something like the TPS or IAC valve... Could be water in harness. Any CEL or have you put it on a reader?

Thanks for the quick reply......... No codes, it was done several days ago and it has been really hot here so I would think things would dry out. Where are the valves you mentioned located and I will check them out.

Well the 92 has a TPS on the intake manifold, but no IAC. instead it's got CPS. But if the CPS goes it just goes, But that aint a rule did you cover the intake and fuse boxes?

Edit- I don't own a 92, so correct me if I was wrong about any of the sensors...

I changed the TPS and that solved the problem. Lesson learned........... Never pressure clean a Jeep 4.0 !!!!!
