Exclamation Intake Problem

Hey dirty party people. I've got me a problem and i would love your input. SO i went off-roading the other day and i went through a hole a bit too fast and some mud got slung up to my engine compartment. No big deal if i didn't have an open air aftermarket air intake resembling a K&N. I don't know the actual brand but its definitely aftermarket (http://kandn.com/images/l/69-1009TWR.jpg ---> looks like this). So mud got slung up into my intake and i almost hydrolocked my engine. Eventually i got all of it out of the system and i seafoamed it just for good measure. To try to solve the problem me and a buddy fabbed a cover out of a trashcan. The cover bumped up against my ECU and shifted it making my engine not start and when i shift it stutters. I have to rev it to the sky to get going and when i shift and that is no bueno.

....Sooo.... what do i do? help please ye glorious people of the mud. Thanks!

Are you referring to the PCM? The unit by intake with 3 harnesses? If so it takes about 5-6 hours to check each wire individually... So about a minimum of 300 at a shop. If there is visible damage then you've got something to start with, but otherwise a new PCM is like 350ish (that's for my 99 sport).

I think your 91 is the first year of 0bd 1. Should be able to have the codes read or do the key trick. I think.....

Yeah the PCM not the ECU. Well it just gets bumped around and some of the wiring comes loose. I dont think a replacement is necessary. I'm just trying to find a solution to the intake problem that doesn't touch my PCM.
