My dad just bot a boat and i have a hitch, just no trailer lights. How do i install my taillight converter to my jeep?

 

You need to buy a wiring harness, it should come with directions. Basically you end up using those little plastic clip connectors to splice into the taillight circuits. You'll have to remove one of the side trims in the back to get at it.

 

Trailers, and a lot of older vehicles, use the same wire for blinkers and brake lights. The brake light itself blinks. XJs do not use this system, they have independant blinker and brake lights. You will need a converter that will marry the brake and blinker lights into one wire, so you can use a standard connector, and trailer wiring. They sell these everywhere that they sell trailer accessories. It will come with instructions on how to correctly install it.

 

you can buy the harness that has the converter already on it. It is an easy install you basically plug the new harness into the existing wires. The "hook up" spot for the harness is behind where the spare tire is...behind the plastic panels.
