I plan on cleaning out my radiator this weekend, while ordering everything I got a suggestion about an inline coolant filter. You put it in the in-going tube of the heater core and it is suppose to catch junk. If it happens to clog it has a failure bypass. It seem to be a very good idea was just curious if anyone runs anything close to this?

 

Interesting idea.....those folks that have the "brown rusty coolant" posts need one of those gadgets plumbed to the top of their dash. LOL

 

I've seen the glass fuel filters like that but I have never seen one for the heater core. The way a lot of people neglect there cooling system I can see them having to clean that thing a lot!

Is says to put it by the heater core, I guess technically you can put it anywhere. The heater core seems the best spot on the XJ right up front.

 

I know right, suggestion by amazon ads after buying the Lisle funnel for coolant.

 

Really? Why would someone that neglects whatever clean whatever a lot? My suggestion for plumbing the gadget to the top of the dash was a dig to the non-hood poppers.

 

I seen these on ebay for $52.

They look like a $10 fuel filter with 5/8 connections.

 

They used to make some went in the top rad hose, but havent seen them in 15 years or so... I do like the idea, where did you get it, and how much?

 

I never ended up buying it to many projects, otherwise you can buy it anywhere just look up inline coolant filter ve-labs. Otherwise this is the licensed dealer that sells them.

I think the Culligan filter would do a better job of filtering,

and alot less cost.

 

Why would a person buy this before a remote filter setup for the power steering or brake fluid?

 

I should have a filter for my PS, but i don't. People who spend lots of cash money on those systems buy filters to prevent **** getting in the pump/ram/caliper/lines and stopping things from performing their best
