Default I'm new and I already need help!

Hey guys, great site you all have here! I am in need of some assistance. I recently purchased a 1991 Jeep cherokee 4.0 4x4 5 speed for a daily driver. I drove it for a couple days then it broke on me. Heres the problem:

The plastic rod on the master cylinder that goes through the firewall and attaches to the clutch pedal broke. I replaced the master cylinder with no issues except now the clutch pedal is about halfway down and the clutch wont disengage. I know there isnt a problem with the clutch itself because it worked great before the plastic piece in the pedal broke. I'm thinking the system needs bled, but I have tried every way that I can think of to bleed it.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Negative, is that a pretty common practice with a jeep? I will take the master back off if I need to but as hard as it was to get the rod to slide on the clutch pedal, I would rather not.
