Default I'm installing my 3 inch lift and I need HELP!

ok so I'm in the middle of installing my 3 inch lift from Zone Offroad and I'm hitting a roadblock here.... I do not have a coil spring compacter and i'm having trouble getting my lift coils into place.

My first question is

Is there a way to remove the bump stop thing that sits inside the coil on the coil seat? Zone's website said they do not requite them so i thought i could just remove them and be done.

My second question is

Is there any way to just get the coil in place without the use of a spring compacter?

Thanks in advance!

Bottle jack suggestion above sounds good, I had contact of the lower control arm with the housing where they mount to the D30 front axle. WE had to pry hard with a long bar and we were using spring compressors. I do recommend the spring compressors. Can you beg, borrow, rent, buy some compressors (use them with respect and read the instructions), bought a set for $45. Keep the bump stop in place, you need it or you shocks risk bottoming out. Also check out on line "GoJeep" site, lots of good advice and photo's and has a section on the spring install. Good luck, hope this helps.

if you have a rental yard near by, most of them rent a coil compressor

When I did my zone lift all I did was disconect the sway bar, and the track bar and then with the jeep suported on jack stands, I put a jack under one side of the axle(under the spindle) and jacked it up as high as it would go. This drops the other side of the axle. I then worked the spring in. I had to rotate the sprin in by spining it but I was able to do it without compressing the springs.

you can also disconnect the sway bar and the control arms and just drop the whole front axle. might not be the fastest way, but it works if you have no other tools

Thank you this is exactly what I needed. I have them both disconnected so now I'll just get to jacking the other side of the Axle up and see how it goes. Also, Your XJ looks great! How is the lift holding up?

Thanks man, I hope u got them in ok....I have had the lift a little over a year and its been great I DD it and have had no problems with it. I have wheeled it a few times and everything works great. I didnt use the AAL so I dont know how that holds up overtime but I really like their products. I just got my buddy to put their 4inch lift on his TJ.

I tried to install my 3 inch rough country lift and i couldn't get the spring in without a compressor and the only thing holding the axle on was the trackbar and upper control arms.

Also, why not just leave the bumpstops? I don't think they can hurt anything.

I finally got them in by having a friend of mine lend me his spring compressors. I got it done in like 20 minutes which just made me laugh at how easy it was with the right tooling. Good to hear your suspension is holding up well!

Why would you pry/jack/or bend something ( lower control arm) when you can just disconnect it???
