Im getting 24 volts to my window motor? Help
Update the original meter was bad got my good meter back from a friend that had borrowed it and it is reading 12.1 volts going to try to swap it out with a motor from the JY tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
Hey guys was trying to figure why the RP window in a 2001 xj I just bought wasint working so I popped the panel and took the connector off the motor I am getting 24 +/- .2 volts. Is this correct? If so it sounds like I just need to replace the motor anything wierd I should know about that?

Do you have a dual battery set up? Two 12 volt batteries hooked up in series will give you 24 volts.
Edit: Impossible. The entire electrical system would have fried.
Make sure your voltmeter is set up correctly for reading 20 Volts DC.

I know this might sound dumb, but are you checking the passenger door switch or the master panel on the drivers side cause usually when the passenger windows don't work it's cause the wires broke in the door boot.

I checked that but I am checking in the passenger door at the connection to the window motor I figured it would be the best spot if it is getting correct voltage there the motor just needs to be changed out.

Which switch the passenger? Either way I am waiting for a friend to bring a different meter over this one is giving me problems with the contacts having to be held funny just to get a reading. I was checking just below the passenger switch where it Y's off from the drivers switch and comes back down to a single connector from both switches. Im loading a pic now.

24 volts is impossible. you must have a decimal point wrong or your meter is setup incorrectly.
