Ignition switch problem?
For the last week my 99XJ started when the key was turned, but it seemed like it wasnt engaging the starter until it the key was about an eighth of an inch from maxing out key turn. ( if that makes sense).Today it started once then wouldnt start again. I pushed a screw driver into bottom of shroud to poke around and cyl. popped out. I put a screwdriver into column and was able to turn switch and could hear a click in fuse panel but no start. ANY IDEAS? alldash lights come on and radio.

FOUND problem. Behind key cyl. is another cylinder that has a white plastic housing, THis is what turns the slot in a black electronic housing. The shaft in the white housing is broken, DOES anyone know the name of this part? Cant find in FSM.

A lot of people hear 'ignition switch' and think of the key cylinder. The key cylinder is a separate piece that connects to the ignition switch.. i believe that's the part you want
