I have a 95 jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 6L. When I let go of the gas a little bit it start jerking. If the check engine light is off, everytime I slow down to a stop it will die. With the check engine light on. It runs fine. It does not have a egr valve. But has the same issues if it did and it went bad. What else could be causing that problem?

 

What codes are you getting? I bet it runs better when the light is on becuase it's running on basic parameters and not off the sensors. Could be 100 things different things.

 

This will be really hard to diagnose with parts being broken and/or missing.
