Idle surge/stalling issue
2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0
So I am having an issue that I believe seem to be pretty common where the jeep will idle at low RPM's and either stall completely or stall and surge back to life.
Some of the other topics seem to end once someone changes a certain sensor and I have been going through and replacing some of my sensors and still am stumped as to why it is doing this.
I have replaced quite a few parts on my jeep over the past few weeks so I will list them to help narrow down a possible solution that someone may know of.
I recently cleared the engine codes today and drove the car for about 20 miles and it doesn't have any check engine light on for now will drive it more to see though. Also if it may help with knowing more about the car, the AC clutch doesn't seem to want to engage not sure if it is related.

- Crank Pos Sensor
- Up/down stream O2 sensors
- IAC
- Fuel pump
- Spark plugs

Your symptom is usually caused by a vacuum leak - do the smoke test to find it easily.
But sometimes it's from a dirty/sticky IAC clean it with Throttle Body Cleaner - parts house.

I recently took the car to a mechanic and it turned out to be a grounding wire that was not making contact.
I have driven about 150 miles since and haven't had any issue.
