idle problems

idle problems
1998 with straight 6 idle is going out of control going to 3000 and then when put in gear does not stay normal it's not giving a dummy light and I cant find a vacum leak I'm stumped can any one helpgive me an idea

i would try the IAS (idle air sensor) i have a 98 an mine is doing its own little thing but i replaceed th IAS today an when i did my RPMs jumped up to about 3000 an once the senser started to read it my RPMs dropped to normal
