So, I've run out of places to store stuff in, in my '99 xj. As I was sitting in it today thinking of something i could fab up to hold my phone, I thought of this. Get one of the rear ash tray assemblies from the JY and cut into the center console and fit it in there. I really dont think it'll be all that hard, just make sure it wont get in the way of the E-brake. What do you think?

 

humm, so you want to put it on the side of the little cutout where the ebrake is? i believe there is sheet metal right below that, somebody correct me if im wrong.

I was thinking like the front. i took out the center console box and it is just plastic.

You could always put Velcro on the phone and on a flat position within view. Both surfaces must be cleaned with alcohol before applying the Velcro to either. I don't know if they still make those plastic cigarette cases, but drilling a small hole through one side and using a well placed screw would place it at the same level as the gauges. I saw a couple at a truck stop last week. Good luck.
