IAC valve throttle body styles
I'm doing an engine swap, supposedly 2 99's but my IAC valve has a different cable connection. Mine is a straight on style the other is a 90 degree deal with different connectors. Since I had old style FI's I think I have an older engine style for what ever reason. Anyone know if I can just switch out the valves, or if I need to switch the whole TB or *gumble* the whole intake/TB assembly. I could also splice in the new connector as I've got the harness, tho the wires are diff colors. Thanks

Sound like one TB is a 96-01 and the other TB is 91-95.
The one with 90 degrees plug, is there a map sensor mounting points on it?
Could you post a picture of both TB? That could help clarify the issue

Ok here it is... "what are map sensor mounting points?" ;-) Here's the two styles, I can see that they are simple enough that I can at least take them apart and see if the inside bits are the same without messing things up, if so I'll try switching them as my old TB is much cleaner looking, thanks. Firefox doesn't like the file attachment system btw.

Is that a picture of your throttle body?
If so ...
If you had a Cherokee ... The MAP sensor was moved from the firewall to the side of the throttle body sometime in 99(?). So the throttle body would have additional bosses to mount it.
Being as you have a GRAND Cherokee ... all previous advice is moot as it does not apply.
The only difference between the two IAC's is the plug/connectors (internal pins style changed in 99 for all models).
If not, just weed out the Grand bits. Functionally all three generations of 4.0 IAC work the same. The Pintle tips changed from the 87-90 style for the 91-99, and then the connector/pins changed for 99 on (99 being the crossover year). Otherwise they are the same (I have even run a renix IAC with an HO Pintle tip on my motor).

No no, nothing grand about it. Mine is the 90 degree style, I switched the TB cuz I didn't have the right torx on hand to switch em, photos are off the net.

Ok, the picture was throwing me off as that is the TB from a grand.
The plug style changed is all, as did the pin type inside the connector. Just use the one that matches your wiring. Or swap (rewire) to the plug you want, but that's kinda the backwards way about it.
