What to take?
Quote: Don't touch seafoam! that stuff is a likely suspect in why my head gasket went out! I had a perfectly running engine with no issues to a blown head gasket and a complete mess in a month.
I would tow an extra jeep. Reading everyones comments it sounds like no one trust their Jeep! Do your maintence relax and enjoy your trip.

Bring a couple bottles of HEET and try to only get gas a busy gas stations or truckstops. Some of the "back road" stations have old holding tanks that leak and let water in, sometimes they've got old gas thats started to varnish. If your in freezing weather, keep your tank full too, especially if your covering a lot of ground. The more air in the tank, the more water vapor, which will condense and mix with your gas during the freeze/thaw cycle...like when your going up and down mountains. Change the fuel filter too before you go. I drove through Montana and was amazed how much water and dirt I had in my tank

Gas stations are like a girl at the bar...you can smell the octane on their breath, but you don't know how clean they are!!

if you have time give your lift a couple of weeks to "settle in" and check tightness of everything. after about 2 weeks of having my lift on I noticed a clunk in the front on the pass side, went through methodically and found a loose bolt on the top of the sway bar end link. a little loc-tite and a quick wrench job and she's been good ever since.

While your changing fluids and such it probobly not a bad idea to flush your radiator also, especialy if your going to be anywhere near southern cal, it can get hot out there and unless your near the bigger citys stuffs pretty spread out and its just one less thing to worry about.

i flushed the radiator two weeks ago. getting the drain plug out was a SOB out in the cold. i also cleaned out all the muddy gunk in the reservoir.

I've run Seafoam in every vehicle I own and have not had a problem. I've logged well over 300,000 miles with Seafoam. I'm not saying that it couldn't cause an issue such as above, but don't discredit it based on one experience. There are multiple factors why a head gasket could go bad, gaskets, in my opinion, are a maintenance item and should be replaced if you own a vehicle for over 100,000 miles...especially if you own a GM motor with DexCool...LOL. I'm not discrediting the member I quoted, I'm just giving you my experience with the stuff.
