How far from North Nj are you?

robertj 11-15-2009 10:18 AM

Motor mounts are a maitenance item, and should be inspected periodically in ANY vehicle. They should be replaced well before they fall apart.

As if you going to give up that easy, you replaced all those parts. I bet if it was running good, you would think your XJ was the greatest. Mine gave me lots of problems at first but once you start fixing them, the jeep is a fun toy.

Those mifiring problems can be electrical,i changed my pigtail for the injector and all works fine,

Going from a Jeep to a 2wd Ranger is like getting demoted!

kilbrethj 11-15-2009 10:25 AM

it wasnt the mount that broke.. it was the bolts... so i should pull the bolts out periodically and check them? all set... I don't know how far away nj is. its a days drive. i live in western maine so its a drive!! haha

kilbrethj 11-15-2009 10:29 AM

not when the ranger has never left me stranded!! I would much rather drive that then this horrible jeep!! especially when i am 100miles away at school. i dont wanna have to worry about getting stranded down there. and i will only be driving the ranger till may and then its cummins time!! plus if i sell my jeep i will have like 12k in the bank driving a truck that gets almost 30mpg! be a lot cheaper. plus i wont have to keep dumping money into it.. And maybe then i will be able to get a part time job instead of fixing this piece of junk on all my vacations and weekends.

I would say thet mounts were going bad which in turn caused the bolts to shear. When the mounts stop protecing the drivetrain and attached aprts from vibration the engine will start stressing parts such as motor mount bolts. Get it?

I think you should try to buy a new car or get a bicycle/moped. Maybe working on older vehicles isn't for you.

kilbrethj 11-15-2009 10:32 AM

Oh and i have been demoted before.. 21 dollars an hour to 12.25 and hour..... that made me decide to go back to college...

how are you going to come on a jeep orientated forum and say its a lemon ,he is going to sell it when he obviously does not maintain it .when it breaks he fixes it.

Alex 11-15-2009 10:49 AM

jeeps are bought for good times, wheeling and fixing. i have replaced the radiator the clutch fan the altinator the stater the power steering pump the power steering pump mount the power steering box a sway bar....o the list goes on. but its all been lots of fun i will never buy anything but a jeep. there is nothing better than the great cycle of wheeling it fixing it wheeling it fixing it. i guess it just a "jeep thing".

I wish i never sold the 1 ton for. that truck was an animal! owell... lesson learned!

gonna try to get 3k for it after i fix it.

quit being a baby
you want to own a 13yr old truck and then ***** about putting money into it
it looks like to me you had a missfire and threw a bunch of parts at it

1SIKXJ 11-15-2009 10:52 AM

i love my jeep even though the head gasket has went bad,3 wheel bearings,u joints like crazy but the feeling you get when you make it up a hard hill and the wrangler guys faces = priceless

Wheeler-man 11-15-2009 10:52 AM

You asked for help!

Dont take your frustrations out on the people trying to help you!

95Cherokee 11-15-2009 11:05 AM

I agree with you Kilbre, go with the Ranger for reliable transportation at school, I've had 2 and nothing ever went wrong with either of them while my Cherokee needs repairs faster than I can make them, and I don't even off road it.

Of course the Ranger has a Japanese engine and drive train in it that won't leave you stranded.
