Default I think my leaf springs may be cheese toast

While the part of the leaf spring behind the axle looks almost flat (slight arc), the part between the axle and front eye now appears to have a slightly negative arc. Is this normal or are they cheese toast?

I was afraid that might be the case.

It's a normal old age sign, from opposing the axle wrap when you accelerate. Nothing you can do except replace them.

I'm thinking I'll just go ahead and get new coils and leafs before installing my lift kit, and maybe even new coil spring cushions because mine look pretty rough. I found some "used but still in good condition" coils on ebay for $20.00 each but, it's looking like I'm going to have to go new on the leafs. Even the aftermarket ones are high but, buying them with the bushings already in them is cheaper than buying them separately.

What leaf packs have you considered?

I bought pro-comp leaf packs with 2.5" of lift for $100 each.

I've already purchased a lift kit so, I'm really not in the market for lifted springs. I found a pair of OE style springs on ebay for $208.00 and free shipping. I may check the local JY to see if I can find some in good condition because I can get them for $20.00 each and coil springs for $10.00 each if I pull them myself.

Stupid question but if you have bought the lift and are planning on putting the springs in why bother with replacing it just to replace it again? Are you missing parts for the lift kit? Did you buy a add a leaf kit?

When I bought the lift kit, (it's a 2" BB spacer and shackle type)

I thought my springs were still in good shape. It was only after I got the kit, that I noticed the negative arc on my rear leafs.
